In the Area
A preliminary National Weather Service finding put an EF1 tornado in Freeland on June 9, 2026, with estimated peak winds of 90 mph. Homes between Freeland Road and Sarle Road had siding and minor roof damage, and Sarle Road and Prairie View Court were hardest hit. The Weather Service estimated 30 to 40 homes had some damage. Along that path, note any loose siding, lifted shingles, or damaged garage doors you can see from the yard.

Questions
We offer roof repair, roof replacement, siding, window replacement, deck building, storm damage repair, and siding repair.
On May 17, 2026, a trained spotter reported hail 1.25 inches across, the size of a half dollar, 2 miles southeast of Freeland, in a report credited to the National Weather Service Detroit office. TV station WNEM reported cracked siding, roof damage, and damaged gutters and downspouts on homes there afterward. Look from the ground for dents on gutters, downspouts, and window screens.
The community has no city or village government of its own. For homes inside Tittabawassee Township, building work is reviewed by the township, whose zoning ordinance names a township building official. That means the township's rules, not a city's, are the ones that apply to those addresses.
Under the township's zoning ordinance as revised through 2019, a building damaged by wind so that its structural strength is noticeably below the minimum for a new building can be declared a dangerous building. The township can then have it made safe or demolished and bill the owner, with the cost becoming a lien on the property. The rule is about structural damage, not a few missing shingles.
In Tittabawassee Township's R-1, R-2, and R-3 residential zoning districts, the outer edge of an unattached deck may not extend beyond 15 feet from the main building. The rule covers a free-standing deck only and comes from the zoning ordinance as revised through 2019, so a deck planned farther out needs a different layout.
